Angullong 2014 Fossil Hill Vermentino

Central Ranges/Orange NSW | 12.5 per cent alcohol | $22

This isn’t strictly an Orange-region wine because some of the grapes come from below the 600-metre contour that officially limits the appellation, but it’s close enough for me.

Vermentino is an Italian variety finding plenty of favour in Australia’s warmer areas.

It obviously does very well in cooler climes as well and this is probably the best one I’ve tasted — lots of fresh citrus and tropical fruit flavours that will see it sit well with many simple seafood dishes.
