David Teie takes a break from playing for humans
Universal Music has signed an interesting record deal for the album Music for Cats, believed to be the first major label deal for music aimed at animals rather than humans.
This album, composed by David Teie, a cellist with America’s National Symphony Orchestra, aims to enrich the lives of cats and provide a calming influence for our feline friends.
Comprising five cat-friendly compositions, this collection is aimed at the owners of Australia’s 3.3 million pet cats.
Music for Cats was born out of David Teie’s work on the appreciation of music by animals.
Felines establish their sense of music through the sounds heard when they’re kittens: birds chirping, suckling for milk, or their mother’s purr.
With this premise, David composed Music for Cats by incorporating cat-centric sounds with classical elements.
